About the role
We are delighted to be working with a highly-established North East Local Authority, to recruit a Lead Corporate Accountant to support the Assistant Director to manage the effective and efficient provision of financial accounting and reporting services for the Group and its clients.
This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract that involves agile working, flexible working hours and opportunities for flexi-time.

The role:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the successful delivery of;
The year end closedown process, producing the consolidated statutory year end accounts, associated audit files and audit liaison.
The co-ordination of the budget setting process.
Leading management and financial accounting processes, including group consolidation and financial forecasting.
Compliance with the latest accounting standards through interpretation and application across the wider finance team.
Cash flow analysis and treasury management.
Timely and accurate VAT returns and company wide VAT compliance.
The candidate will lead the Corporate Accounting team effectively, ensuring employees are motivated and developed to deliver the requirements of the service, and to achieve corporate service targets and objectives.
The requirements:
Professionally qualified (ACA/CIPFA/CIMA/ACCA), with demonstrable;
Knowledge of the financial standards for Groups and Companies including but not limited to, Registered Providers and Charities.
Eexperience of producing statutory accounts.
Diplomatic, assertive and demonstrable record of working collaboratively with developed interpersonal skills to support business partners in setting strategy, developing business cases and providing financial insight.
Competent and able to communicate complex financial matters to a diverse audience, including those from a non-finance background.
Proven problem solving skills and ability to work to unpredictable and tight deadlines.
