Mark Smales

Finance Director

Mark Smales is a well-respected CIMA qualified Finance Director with over 14 years' experience.

His prior experience spanned manufacturing, retail and hire industries before Mark joined the Executive Board of NRG 4 years ago to play a pivotal role in the sale of NRG to Galago Group.

As well as driving financial and operational strategy and investment to provide quality infrastructure and services, Mark now supports the wider Galago Group with procurement and regulatory processes.

Mark is a keen sportsman and enjoys rugby and triathlons (when two small children allow the time).

Working with Catherine this year has been fantastic. In particular I had a non-standard Payroll & HR Systems Manager role to fill and knew it would be tricky finding a candidate with technical expertise who would also be a strong fit into the team and culture. The candidates selected by Catherine were all of a really high calibre and that's testament to the time she took to really understand the business and listen to what we needed. Not all recruiters do this and it was a pleasure to see. We couldn't be happier with our latest team member and don't know how we managed before she joined.

Peter was amazing, he helped me every second of the way - replied to everything quickly and even set up a video call before the second interview to help me prepare and calm my nerves.

I just wanted to say how fantastic the whole experience was, not just for the candidates, but for us too. The virtual assessment centre was really professional and fun - the presentation was inspiring, the exercises enjoyable, relevant to the role and the calibre of candidates were strong. It felt like recruitment when we used to look after it in house and I was proud to be part of it! I came out of the assessment with a spring in my step and I can’t wait for next week.
