Over 360 colleagues provide solutions for over 1500 clients across the UK with over 12 UK data centres and has three corporate office locations in Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Maidenhead.

An opportunity has arisen to take a key team lead role within the Platform Infrastructure team

Reporting to the Cloud, Storage & Platform Infrastructure Manager.

The Platform Infrastructure Team Lead will provide guidance and leadership to a team of Platform infrastructure engineers geographically dispersed throughout the UK and encompasses creating and maintaining a high-performance team environment.

The Platform Infrastructure Team Lead will ensure Platform Infrastructure which underlies our Products and Services to clients is highly available and resilient. The role also drives Platform Infrastructure lifecycle and capacity management plans, scoping and executing continuous service improvement and project initiatives.

Working closely with the Cloud, Storage & Platform Infrastructure Manager, to drive initiatives to team members as well as coach and motivate the team towards both team and business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage team skills in line with platform and product roadmap strategy, vendor hardware and software lifecycles

• Mentor, manage, support, and develop team including appraisals, career development evaluations and setting/reporting of team and individual performance targets (KPI’s)

• Measure, report and manage team performance

• Lead a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to introduce/develop processes and tools to optimise operational management

• Drive a client focused culture

• Scope platform project delivery initiatives

• Drive technical certification and skills development across the team

• Maintain and participate in on-call escalation rota for Platform Infrastructure team.

• Solid understanding of DNS inc open-source BIND/PowerDNS

• Experience of infrastructure monitoring solutions

• Experience of vulnerability management

• Experience of Security Suites

• Experience of type 1, type 2 hypervisors.

• Experience of backup technologies and vendors e.g. Veeam / Asigra

• Experience with PowerShell / scripting languages

• Experience of DevOps tooling; GitHub, BitBucket, Docker, Ansible

Operational responsibilities

• Optimise the portfolio of Infrastructure Platforms – technologies, versions and platforms.

• Manage the Capacity of Infrastructure Platforms.

• Platform lifecycle management in line with EOL position and Cyber Security vulnerabilities.

• Responsible for successful design, planning and execution of infrastructure change, in line with ITIL Change Management framework.

• Responsible for Problem Management of Platform Infrastructure

• Solid understanding of networking/storage protocols

• Solid understanding of DNS inc open-source BIND/PowerDNS

• Experience of infrastructure monitoring solutions, vulnerability management, Security Suites
